What's On ~ March 2021

We are celebrating 🎉

We are excited to share with you all, that Friends of Dorset Care Leavers were the winners of the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, for the 'making a difference' category. We are in category 12. We were delighted that this gave us the opportunity to shine a light on care leavers when we spoke with Dame Esther Rantzen.

Mood Booster Workshops

We had a lovely evening with Andrea in February and we have arranged two more for March. Care leavers who attended have found them safe and welcoming spaces, which were helpful to their wellbeing.

Quiz Night

Our final online quiz for a while. We recognise that you might be feeling a bit worn out with the online lifestyles we have all had for the last year. We can't wait to see you all again in person over the coming months and are starting to think about this already.

AQA Awards

So what's this all about then? Well, we can help you to achieve awards to add to your CV and in the process, give you a reference relevant to what you have worked on with us. You will develop your personal skills and have fun too.

Grab a cuppa and pop along on the 18th March to have a chat with Kaye and Lucy about this. Book a place here https://linktr.ee/FoDCL

Our next committee meeting ~ 31st March at 7pm.

If you would like to join our committee, pop along on the 18th March so we can tell you how we can guide you through doing this using the AQA scheme.

As a committee member, you can join our 'Discord' chat group and make valuable contributions to what we do and how we do it. You will attend more formal meetings and be supported to take part.

We would love more care leavers to join our committee 🥰

Spring is almost upon us 🌼

We hope you have enjoyed the brighter weather recently. We've all found it has helped to lift our spirits and has allowed us to enjoy some more fresh air. A great boost for our wellbeing.

The clocks will also 'spring' forward on the 28th March and so we get to start to enjoy lighter evenings and summer is within reach.

Easter ~ 2nd April - 5th April

Easter weekend is from Good Friday on the 2nd April, through to Easter Monday on the 5th April. Be sure to check Boris' updates for what you can do, but if it doesn't change, you will be allowed to meet up as a group of 6 outside by then. So we hope you are able to catch up with a few people and enjoy the long weekend.

Happy Easter if you are celebrating 🐰.

Take care, we hope to see or hear from you soon
